Abstract

Two different stages of analysis were strictly gone through before arriving at the circuit breaker capacity to protect 330kv transmission grid system in Nigeria gauss-seldel iterative method for solving load flow equations is presented in this paper on one hand to study the pre-fault condition. While on the other hand thevenia’s method of approach for analysis circuit parameters is presented to estimate the highest fault current during fault current during fault condition. It was the understanding of the two studies that led to the capacity of the protective device required. A MATLAB program was developed for each of the studies.
